The Message "Operation Aborded Internet Explorer Cannot open webpage (Url)" Is driving Me INSANE!! HELP PLZ!!?

I have IE 8 which may be the problem, if I change to firefox will that fix it? Almsot every site I go on does this, its been getting worse now. Its driving me CRAZY! Bong, Operation Aborded, thats all I ever hear and see. I tried managing add-ons, but I don't have Skype, so thats not the problem. I'm good with computers, any of you fellow computer experts have any advice on this one. this has been going on a few years now and getting worse.
